Science Cartoon on "Light as Painkiller"
MichaelR. Bruchas' team from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis published paper on April 30, 2015 in the journal Neuron regarding killing pain with the help of light. According to them Optogenetic, widely used tool for manipulation of neuronal activity can be used to control pain with targeting the opioid receptors. It can be predicted from this research that in future, pills will be replaced with the light to control pain.
