leaning temples in India
leaning temples in India
The Leaning Temple of Ratneshwar, located in Varanasi,
India, is a remarkable architectural marvel with an intriguing tilt. Dedicated
to Lord Shiva, this 500-year-old temple leans approximately nine degrees, even
more than the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. Its mysterious inclination is
attributed to a mix of architectural flaws and natural subsidence.
The Leaning Temple of Huma, in Odisha, India, also dedicated
to Lord Shiva, exhibits a similar tilt. Built in the 17th century, it leans due
to the uneven settlement of its foundation. Both temples attract numerous
pilgrims and tourists, fascinated by their unique structural quirks and rich
cultural heritage.
